A Once Happy Dog Tastes Street Life, Hopes Happiness Comes Again

Kelly, a kind dog, really wanted to experience love, but her life was very sad. Her last owner, who didn’t care about her feelings, used her to make money. When she wasn’t needed anymore, he left her. Kelly was alone and hungry, walking the streets, hoping someone would be nice to her.

Tough Street Life

Walking through empty streets, she hoped someone would see she needed help. Even though people had been mean to her, Kelly still believed that there were good people out there. Her luck changed when the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, came to help her.

Thanks to a Rescue Team

The team felt very sad to see that she didn’t have enough food. When Kelly got to the shelter, she quickly made the staff love her because she was so sweet. She loved getting attention and cuddles from her new friends, who wanted to find her a real home fast. They knew she needed a family that loved her to be happy.

The shelter told her story and showed a video on social media, where Kelly looked hopeful and wagged her tail in her cage. A great couple who wanted their first pet saw the video and loved Kelly right away. They went to the shelter the next day, saying they wanted to take Kelly home because she had won their hearts. The staff was very happy, thinking Kelly had found her forever home.

Adoption Day for Kelly

On the adoption day, Kelly was very excited. She happily said goodbye to her friends at the shelter. Her new family was excited to bring her home and give her lots of love. But the happiness didn’t last. They found out one of them was allergic to dogs, so they sadly brought Kelly back to the shelter. Kelly had a short time of being happy, but then it was gone.

A Sad Return

Back at the shelter, Kelly looked very sad. “Since she came back, Kelly looks so sad and worried. She cries to us when we walk by her cage, and she looks desperate. It’s very sad,” said Susan Leonti from the Humane Society of Broward County to Newsweek.

Kelly loves the care she gets from her friends at the shelter, but what she really wants is a family to love her no matter what. She hopes to feel true love for the first time.

Finally Happy In a Forever Home

Good news! After Kelly’s second video was shown, she was adopted into a forever home. We’re so happy for her and hope she has a life full of joy and tail wags.
